Bankroll Basics. "Must Know" Information for all poker players.

Poker cannot be learned in a year. Poker cannot be learned in 10 years. Infact, poker can only be mastered by a handful of people in the entire world.

PLEASE CHECK MY OTHER INTEL FOR ARTICLES I HAVE WRITTEN ALREADY.

If you're deciding what poker room to start off at there is a short review of all the major and some smaller poker sites out there on my intel pages.

POKER TIP#1

Playing at a COMFORTABLE level.

Whether you are playing cash games or tournaments, playing at a comfortable level is ESSENTIAL. If you are new to poker and you have a small bankroll then you must make sure you play low staked games. If you begin to play higher staked tournaments or cash games then you will find you make all the wrong moves because you are playing "scared money".

Here are a few tips on how large your bankroll should be for you to be playing at a comfortable level.

There are a few methods to bankrolling yourself for cash games and tournaments but here are the best and most commonly used ones.

The Classic Cash Game Bankroll - 2000x the maximum buyin for that cash table. i.e if you are playing $0.01/$0.02 you need a $40 bank roll.

The Classic Tournament Bankroll - Sit and Go or MTT you should have AT LEAST 30x the buyin for that tournament. For REBUYS you must have at least 6x30 buyins to the tournament (for low rebuys only). This allows for you to double rebuy and addon.

Thanks for reading,
Nick.
