Blogging about my Life and Poker

My name is Nick. I was born in London, England and have spent most of my life in Hertfordshire, just North of London. I'm 19 years old and I am studying Business Economics and the University Of Leicester in my First year after changing my degree in 2007.

At the moment i am an ambitious entrepreneur who is looking to build a great, friendly and BIG poker community. I have spent 4 years of my life playing poker. After starting when I was just 15 playing with pennies amongst friends at school I gradually fell more and more in love with the beautiful game. I know spend a lot of my time playing both online and offline.

I have started this blog to share experiences and opinions that i have about the game. You can message me in my forum if you want to get in touch and give me some feed back or advice Smile. I really look forward to hearing your opinions about the site and also reading your comments which are very much appreciated.

I'm going to start this blog with a little story about one of my first memories of poker.

A long long time ago, me and my friends at school used to meet up at 1 of the guys' house and we'd have a night in where we drank and played poker around a little table in my friends room. Being young we were all just having a laugh, giving each other banter and smoking cigars and drinking Jacks. Both of which i hated, but hey! it was cool Undecided. None of us really knew what we were playing, but we knew it was called poker and we knew what a pair was; but that really was the extent of the game to us. Before we were dealt we all threw in a penny as an "ante" - we had no idea about the concept of blinds. Betting would start from a random player, usually the dealer button (wrong again) and then it'd go around. Being pennies, people tended to just go all in with any K or A and would think their hand was good. I remember one of the first times i played I had top pair and shoved into a pot the size of the blinds and i managed to make my friend fold a straight as he had no idea what he had.

Years later, two of my closest friends (one who i run this site with today) kept sticking at playing poker. I went through ups and downs of liking the game but as my mates started to read books and learn more, they passed on the knowledge to me. I realised I could start winning more and bit by bit i got hooked! Here I am today, with a blog all about the game and 3 tables running in the background.

Thanks for reading
