Playing the Odds
Knowing Your Odds When playing poker, a lot of your decisions you make will be based heavily on the "odds" you have to call. There are two numbers you need to know to work out if you have odds to play. These are the pot size and the bet size. To work out your odds you have to do the BET SIZE/POT SIZE x100. This will give the percentage of the pot you are calling to play. If you know your outs then you can work out your % chance of hitting by multiplying these outs by 4 on the flop and by 2 on the turn. I.e if you have 8 outs on the turn then multiply by 2 and you have roughly 16% to hit. Say you have to call 40% of the pot and you have >40 % chance of hitting your outs, then you are getting odds to call. Good luck, Nick. |
